What is it costing you?

what is it costing youBusyness is keeping us busy and pre-occupied. It shows up in so many ways, and often times we feel justified by it, like taking kids to events, working long hours and making sure the house is spotless. Busyness can be even just worrying about things that you have no control over, having conversations that don’t make a difference in the long run, putting your energy on things that won’t matter 1 month from now. And yet, in the moment, these things seem important.

Most often if you have stopped to notice, your energy, focus and awareness is out there somewhere, rather then being aware of your body and the sensations it is experiencing.

Busyness has some advantages. It keeps you from yourself, authentically owning your power of possibility in serving your purpose. It keeps you from really being in touch with yourself and making change. Busyness is a way to stay the same and avoid change, a habit or a rut that can be challenging to get out of. Possibly avoid feeling unwanted feelings.

Busyness can keeps you locked into overwhelm, where you may feel powerless to get out. It can also be a way of keeping you spinning your wheels and not being productive.

5 Ways to Get Out of the Busyness

1.   Acknowledge that you are in the busyness mode, and then decide what mode you would like to be in.

2.   Take a few deep breaths and imagine your energy coming back to you and into your body. Bring your energy and focus into your core and imagine anchoring there. Notice how that feels.

3.   Stop and think about your priorities. why are they important? Why do you want to move your priorities forward? How is being busy keeping you away from them?

4.   Who could you ask to support you or who can you delegate to? Sometimes it just takes asking. Often these people you ask will also benefit from you achieving your priorities, whether it be directly or indirectly.

5.   Why not take a few minutes and do something that inspires you? What about incorporating some of that into your day? Busyness is also draining your vitaility, making you more tired, less inspired.

If you only new how much time is being wasted due to the busyness, you would be amazed. If you were willing to accept another possibility of being different, you would feel much lighter, grounded, clearer, focused with more energy and enjoying a richer more fulfilling life.

I love these tips, Tammy, and went through them here myself as I read them. It feels sooooo good to come back to me, back to the present moment and out of the busy mode. Thank you! That was just what I needed here this afternoon and I loved this reminder! 🙂

Things that keep me in busy mode:
    Cleaning up after my daughter
Cleaning the kitchen and putting dishes in the dishwasher
Checking my e-mail multiple times in the day
Going on Facebook multiple times during the day
    Watching Gilmore Girls.

Wow that is alot of stuff! Totally doesn’t inspire me at all. I am going get more awareness on this! As far as support goes. Would you enlighten me on some people or groups that offer support to help with shifting? Thank you!
