Are you feelin’ it?

In this busy world, how does one take time for themselves? Over a glass of wine or a scotch, socializing with friends, watching tv, helping another person, the list is endless.

What do you do to take time for YOU?

Recently, after having a lovely experience with a friend, I asked how they felt and their comment was, “I feel great”. This got me thinking and asking “Where do you feel great at?” because often we think it is the same for each person, and that is not always the case.

They were a little surprised by the question and the reply slowly came. “All over”.

“Where all over do you feel it?” I asked. See the thing is most often a person just replies and doesn’t take the time to really connect with the body and feel for the response.

The body has infinite intelligence. Before we could talk, we could feel (which is why babies cry when they are hungry or need to be changed. The baby is picking up on the signal in the body and then making noise to get attention to have the situation corrected. Once their need is met they go back to sleep or play and they are back into balance.) We are similar however as we grew up… but many people stopped paying attention to the connection with our body’s in the same way.

contentThis brings to mind another experience I’ve had around this same topic. I was drinking a coffee from a local chain. I paid attention as to how my body felt when I started to drink cold blended specialty coffee.

Initially, it was yucky feeling… I experienced a chemical sensation in my mouth, then feeling kind of blah in my belly. I kept paying attention as I continued to drink it and then it started to taste kind of better in a weird way, as I sipped some more, it was Hey this isn’t too bad. My body wisdom was being tricked to thinking it was good and most likely due to some of the ingredients. I surmised how people could easily get addicted to those particular beverages. That was the last time I had one.

On a more uplifting experience, when I go for my trail runs it is completely different.

I am aware of the rich, vibrant energy from the trees, the earth and nearby creeks. As I breathe in the richness, I am aware of expansion in my body, invigoration, upliftment, and inspiration. I allow my whole being to drink and absorb the vibrancy so that it can give me strength and resources for the future to support my dreams and vision. When it is by the ocean, and the transition from darkness to light, I use this as another opportunity to clear the cobwebs, then to wake me and ground, fill me with energy for the day.

What do you do to support your dreams and visions each day? I’d love to hear, so please leave me a comment below!

I’m totally guilty of not tuning into my body and how or where things FEEL! I love this reminder to come back to that, to pay attention to those sensations and really tune into my body. Afterall, it’s the only vehicle I have here and now for this Planet Earth ride of a lifetime! 😉 Thank you for this reminder, Tammy. I’m going to make a point to be more aware of how my body feels, to tune in and notice what it has to tell me as I go throughout my day. 🙂

Yes, our bodies are amazing and they tell us so much. I would love to hear what you notice and experience as you pay more attention Jesse. Sometimes to begin with it can be a bit of a learning game understanding various sensations if it is new.

Guilty as charged 🙂 I do use my intuition a lot, but when it comes to nutrition, my fatigue and pain take over a bit too often, and I eat whatever I like. I’ll try to do better from now on 🙂

Linda when you are ready you will do better. However speaking from experience of burnout and not eating the best a number of years ago, I know from personal experience without the body having proper energy it can be challenging to heal. However once we give our body sufficient nutrients and rest it will heal because it naturally wants to heal.

Thanks for the Google maplet feature. When will we be able to see maps with all our videos pinned to them? It's no fun adding all that map data if you can't see it in action! Also, some videos travel a distance — will there be a Google maplet route feature added? Maybe with specific coiaodnrtes linked to specific times within the video?

      • Oui, le rouleau compresseur est en marche, vous pouvez reprendre une activité normale, mais ça confirme quand même qu’un Jo même sur TB peut taquiner ce Nadal là.

      • Great post, I conceive people should acquire a lot from this blog its very user friendly . “Frisbeetarianism is the belief that when you die, your soul goes up on the roof and gets stuck.” by George Carlin.

      • Can we participate in this from a distance? I live in Britain, and it would be nice if people who can’t be there could send in their ‘lost’ things, and possibly help ‘find’ things as well (not sure how, though, but it’s just a thought)

I was just having a conversation about this yesterday. My gal pals and I were talking about giving blood or donating your organs. I told them that I feel too closely connected to the inner workings of my body to give it away to someone else. That sounds strange but I really do feel into myself a lot.

I like your anecdote about the coffee. It makes a lot of sense.

    • tammy says:

Interesting perspective on giving blood and your organs. I still enjoy a good cup of coffee Heather, although in moderation.

      • This was a good post… This was my 1st time to this site. Thank you for sharing . I must bookmark this blog. I was a machine mechanic for a long time. My technical tip of the week is this: Please do not try a hard repair yourself. This can cost you more in the end. Thank you one more time….

well but that child is seriously neglected… “i am only child, i can’t do it all alone, if i had just one person to love, two soft arms to give me a hug and protect me… I feel so damn alone” I mean i get his point, he is like 9 years old or something!

It is not impossible that the long skull was a male trait as any other male trait (heavier jaw, longer nose etc).In that era populations were largely static, so that spontaneous variations could be easily passed on to a small gene pool and become a common characteristic. But once a wider genetic pool was introduced a local anomaly would be absorbed and largely disappear.

      • After study just a couple of of the blog posts in your web site now, andI actually something like your tactic of blogging. I bookmarked it to my bookmark website listing and will probably be checking again soon.Pls check out my web page because properly and let me recognize what you think.

  4. “I allow my whole being to drink and absorb the vibrancy so that it can give me strength and resources for the future to support my dreams and vision” wicked good, if for any reason to give time for yourself this would be mine. I love to dance, my zumba class is like church and I let it go there, I am refilled and realigned. There have times that the feeling was invigorating that I have cried from the bliss I felt while in class. Great reminder to keep going! Thx

    • tammy says:

Glad to hear you take time to fill yourself up, realign and congrats for being willing to allow yourself to cry with bliss! So refreshing. I haven’t yet tried zumba, however it is on my list over the next couple of months.

I feel great when I remember to breathe. One big inhale and then when I exhale I feel my whole body melt from the lungs out to the tips of my fingers and toes. I go from feeling rigid and dense to actually feeling like I could lift off and fly. I take rides by the ocean or into the country where the vistas are big and my visions are not bound by walls and buildings.
