3 Simple Ways to Be More Present During the Holidays

being presentBecoming present is often overlooked, especially in the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Often you are looking with your eyes out there and have an inner dialogue going on about it, right?

That voice inside is often not always positive, especially if you are in a long lineup to buy something and you are already late. Have you ever noticed no matter how upset you get, the line doesn’t move faster? In fact, the only thing that is moving faster is your inner frustration and dialogue.

This is not being present.

The best way to be present is to focus on your breathing. Notice your breath going in and out… What else do you notice about it? See how many things you can notice at once. Also be aware of where you are holding tension in your body and allow it to be released.

If you are in conversation with someone, yet your mind is off on something else, this is not being present either. Once you notice that, you are now being more present.

Make it a point to truly be present in the conversations you are having by being aware in the moment... not focusing on the future or the past. You are also being present in the moment when you are listening to someone, rather than judging them. Stay curious to what they are saying.

One of the other ways to become more present is by using essential oils. As you smell them, be aware of your breath and the impact the scent has on your body and your emotions.
