Whether you are in business, have a job or stay at home with your kids, setting goals and targets will help you move forward to achieve what you want in life. I have often heard a number of people say that they don’t write these down but in fact they have said they let life unfold. Is this you? Is this really true?
I encourage you to create a dream, a goal. Try writing it down or get a picture of it, then ask yourself what will it mean to achieve it? Write that down too.
If your goal to be healthier in 2014, what would that look like for you? Often for this, people think of losing weight, instead, why do you want to do it? What does it mean to you to be healthier? How do you want your body to feel?
To help you be successful, make sure goal is achievable. Break it down into little things you can do daily and start short-term; about one to three months. Track your wins and successful steps as you move forward. If you get bored easily and like to change up routine, then change it up.
Remember to review your goals/desire regularly and celebrate your success! Even the daily wins are important to acknowledge. Often in our society it is the destination that gets the focus verses the journey. Western culture wants immediate gratification. Always on the move to what’s next, looking for external happiness and success. Often feeling unfulfilled. Have you ever said to yourself “is this all there is” and there is a sense of emptiness or disappointment? Then comes the numbing out with, best have a beer, wine or a bowl of chips and a movie or something of that nature. Is this you? What’s the cost?
This is why it is important to have goals that give you inner meaning and fulfillment and to celebrate and acknowledge those successes along the way. It will also bring you more joy.
Challenge yourself to see how many stars and desires you can achieve in 2014 and track your daily or weekly wins. Make 2014 a year to remember; time is not waiting for you. The time is now.
